ABOUT THE ARTIST

Mikaela was born and raised in Greater Toledo. At the age of 12, a childhood art teacher taught her how to draw a portrait of her brother, who had recently passed away — a moment that sparked her lifelong connection to art.

While pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Mikaela explored drawing, photography, sculpture, and painting. Later, she earned a master’s degree in Recreational Therapy from the University of Toledo and became a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.

For the past six years, Mikaela has worked at a local nonprofit. In her free time, she returned to acrylic painting and rediscovered a passion for it.

This year, Mikaela started her own business: Toledo Art Girl.
